The World Teachers’ Day celebration is
a strong reminder of the sacrifices that the teachers all over the world offer
on a daily basis. One day is all it takes for the entire world to pay honor and
tribute to the people who stand as the front runners in building the ideal
community for everyone.
The Department of Education thru DepEd Memorandum 112 s. 2019 has declared October 5 as National Teachers’ Day with the theme, “Gurong Pilipino: Handa sa Makabagong Pagbabago”. The nationwide celebration acknowledges the contribution of teachers in nation-building, to honor them and make them happy.
Neither a plaque of appreciation nor a bouquet of flowers could ever equate the heroism done by our dear teachers in shaping up the lives of the learners so they could have a brighter future.
The basic connotation about the teaching profession implies the idea that it is a noble profession. Teachers work tirelessly to ensure that the future generations have a better future and become productive citizens of our nation. They carry out an honorable task that drives the youth to carry out their ideals and visions for the future. The only reward they get is the simple phrase, “Thank You” that innately soothes their weary body, mind, and hearts.
We may not see their hero costumes, but we can detect that their outer appearance is not their first concern but the inner beauty of the learners.
Their income is not that big enough. Even others’ take home pay could no longer take them home, because in most cases, they always pay the financial obligations that our learners’ parents could not afford or fail to pay. This is already beyond their job order.
They still continue working despite of our learners’ hardheadedness, craziness and stubbornness. They are our second parents to understand our childishness. They are there to like the unlikeable and love even the unlovable.
But at the end of the day, we all agree that within the ranks of “nation- builders” there are the “select few” who rise above the rest. They toil more than the others. They strive more than the rest. And they serve as role models for others to follow because they are the embodiment of the true essence of teaching and leading.
Our teachers are our modern day heroes and they deserve all the praises and respect. The little kindness and appreciation we offer them always last for more than a lifetime.
HAPPY TEACHERS’ DAY!
