DepEd RO-I Kicks off Brigada Eskwela 2018 in San Carlos City, DepEd to Intensify Partnership

SAN CARLOS CITY, PANGASINAN – The Department of Education (DepEd) Region I kicked off Brigada Eskwela at Federico Mandapat Sports Dome, Central II Elementary School, San Carlos City, Pangasinan today, May 28.

Undersecretary for Legislative Affairs, External Partnerships, and School Sports Tonisito M.C. Umali served as the Guest of Honor and Speaker. USEC Umali underscored the importance of partnership among stakeholders.


“It takes a village to raise a child, is very true when you talk about partnership, when you talk about Brigada,” Umali stressed. He explained the importance of collaborative leadership and shared responsibility among DepEd and partner stakeholders. “We need to let our stakeholders feel that they belong, that their support is greatly appreciated.”

The Undersecretary commended the Regional Director, Dr. Alma Ruby C. Torio for the exceptional leadership and performance of DepEd Region I in the implementation of different programs such as Brigada Eskwela.

RD Torio, in her message, also ensured everyone that DepEd Region I is definitely ready for the opening of Classes this June 4. She mentioned that the success of programs like the Brigada Eskwela was possible thru the team work and strong connection among the Schools Division Offices led by the fourteen Schools Division Superintendent.

USEC Umali along with the Region I Officials spearheaded the ceremonial signing of Pledge of Commitment and Brigada Eskwela activities such as the painting of walls and arm chairs at the Central I and Central II ES.

The SDOs are also set to have their Division kick-off which already started last May 25 and will end on May 29.

The Regional Kick-Off was hosted by the Schools Division of San Carlos City headed by OIC, SDS Sheila Marie M. Primicias. It was attended by almost two thousand participants from different internal and external partner stakeholders.

The 2018 Brigada Eskwela officially commence from May 28 to June 2, 2018 with the theme, “Pagkakaisa para sa Handa at Ligtas na Paaralan Tungo sa Magandang Kinabukasan.” It aims to bring together all stakeholders to participate and engage in this endeavor for the benefit of the learners nationwide.
